SECTION J FLOWERS

 

GENERAL STANDARDS OF JUDGING

Form> uniformity, proper maturity(not over or under mature). Proper shape (not misshapen).  Proper petal-age.

 

Stems & Foliage>uniformity, strength &/or straightness, foliage quality, size & proportion

 

Colour> uniformity, intensity, clarity & brilliance

 

Size>uniformity, proper size for variety.

 

Condition> uniformity, substance (turgidity),freedom from bruise & blemish.

 

Spike> a thick upright stem carrying several blossoms.

 

Spray> a specimen with leaves, branches & buds off all size shoots

 

Bloom> take only the stem the blossoms are on, leaving off all side shoots.

J2-6 Miniature Floral-not over 3” in any direction

J2-7 Novelty Container-fresh flowers

J2-8 Rose-in a brandy snifter

J2-9 Teacup & Saucer-using standard size cup

 

 

SPECIAL CLASS 

J2 - 10 A Dried Flower Arrangement

Design a Flower Arrangement in a container of your choice. The arrangement is not to be more that 2 feet wide. You may use commercial or home-grown dried flowers, weeds, grasses, etc. plus a few accessories of your choice.

WINNING ENTRY to be judged at B.C. Fairs AGM in Vernon in October 2006.

 

DIVISION J3> POTTED HOUSE PLANTS

 

RULES>1. Unless specified, only ONE PLANT PER POT.      2.  Pots are not to exceed 12”  3.  Plants must be free from pests
